Rasti Sabich works as a district prosecutor in Chicago. Despite having a wife, the man starts a secret affair with his colleague, Caroline Polhemus. His life is turned upside down when a horrifying murder case involving Caroline is brought to the prosecutor's office, and Rasti is assigned to investigate it. Trying to keep the specifics of his relationship with the victim a secret in order to save his marriage, Rasti only worsens the situation and soon becomes the prime suspect in the murder.
