Pat Phelps, previously known as a writer, is struggling to finish her second novel. Things are not going smoothly in her family either - her relationship with her husband has lost its spark, and her children are going through teenage rebellion. After a night with a plumber, the woman, desperate, decides to move with her family to the suburbs to escape the noise of the metropolis. Settling into a new house with a mysterious past, Pat encounters even more problems - the dwelling somehow affects her strangely, and she tries to understand if it's depression or the sinister tricks of local spirits.
